Layla Landon is a laid back Aussie, who loves her dog and values family above all else. Layla has been an avid reader since high school, thinking nothing of reading 300 books in a year. In memory of her father, Layla finally put aside her fears and published her first book in 2022. When she isn’t writing, she is playing with her dogs, watching anime or reading.
Tell us a little bit about Layla Landon.
Layla is my pen name for RH. I have another planned for New and Young Adult fantasy. I live in Australia but have moved all over, including living overseas for 5 years when I was young(er). 30 isnt old, right? When I teach I feel ancient at times.
Why did you choose the genre you write?
Reverse Harem for me is this idealized world where women are finally in control, and the center of attention for the right reasons, to be loved. It the ultimate fantasy, at least for me, to be wanted and have people fill all the gaps in your life. Pun intended.
Your favourite author in the same genre as you.
Oh gosh it depends on the sub-genre. Though Auryn Hadley’s Paths of temptation series was so good I had my mum reading it.
Is there something you wish you knew when you first started that you know now?
How much behind the scenes stuff is needed, like socials and ads. Even how many books people want out before they are willing to read you for the first time.
Tell us, whether it’s book one or not, which book did you enjoy writing the most and why?
I loved writing To The Beat of My Heart. Writing contemporary was a change for me and so was the medium level of steam, the things I googled.
If you could offer one piece of advice to aspiring or new authors, what would it be?
Keep going. If your doing this because you need the crazy out of your head like me, then do it regardless. Just don’t publish and stress, go through all that pressure unless you’re sure. Oh and have a few ready to rapid release, I had a year or more between book one and two and lost momentum because of it.
What was your last 5 star read?
Paths We Lay.
What is your all time favorite book that you recommend to people all the time?
Mine. (cough cough)
Erin R Flynn has some great long running series so her Seraphine Thomas series.
What’s the best decision you’ve ever made in your life?
To stay living with my parents, at the time I was offered a position in rural Oz, but something was nagging at me. I stayed and was there for when my father passed, now mum and I keep each other company.
If you could teleport to any location, where would it be?
Disney world. (Minus the hurricane)
What fictional character are you attracted to?
Rowan from SJM or Ryhsand. Let’s be real almost all fictional men are hot.
What is your favourite song right now?
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me by Taylor Swift
What’s the worst pick up line you’ve ever heard or used?
Gosh I cant say. I get a few with my online dating attempts and some are down right creepy.
What are you working on now?
Edits for my release mid october- Questioning Destiny- book 4 in my slow burn RH NA PNR series.
Do you have any news to share?
Headed to one or two conventions in 2025 but 2026 is hectic!
Layla’s “gateway book” is … A Strange New World

Mere hours after I graduate from high school I am whisked away from the confines of human life by my best friend. Now I am immersed in a captivating and complicated world of magic. As I adjust to my new normal I am confronted with dangers that shouldn’t even exist. My aunt – who I didn’t know I had- is the Dean and her guardian is the Hercules. Also, I now have a sometimes invisible wolf as mine, who talks and can kicks arse all on her own. Oh, did I mention the myriad of hot guys? Picture purple-eyed cutie-pies and strong silent types.
Bring on the drama – and hopefully a chill pill.
In this enchanting tale of magic, mystery, and self-discovery, the question remains: Will I be able to handle the extraordinary challenges that lie ahead?
